Date: Monday, Jan. 6, 2003

Setting: Tempo Offices

Brooke has just found Edmund in his office chewing out an intern. He is angry and frustrated at Maria's lying to him and it doesn't take Brooke long to figure out why he's in a snit. He proceeds to cry on her shoulder about Maria, including all the gory details she doesn't want to hear, until finally she snaps a pencil. Finally, he gets it and this conversation takes place.

Edmund: This is wrong. I shouldn't lay this on you.

Brooke: No. You shouldn't.

Edmund: Why didn't you just tell me to shut up Brooke?

Brooke: I think I just did.

Edmund: I'm sorry. Really.

Brooke: It's more information than I need Edmund. I know and I get what's going on between you and Maria. Okay?

Edmund: Okay. What's going on with you Brooke?

Brooke: Oh, um, let's see. I had an affair with Adam Chandler. And, ah, that little indiscretion almost cost Mia Saunders her life. Um, I spent Christmas trying to cheer Tad up because this is his first one without Dixie. And if you gave half a second of thought to my son you would know he is reeling, because in this past year he has lost you and his stepmother, and certainly all faith in me. And I have been trying however I can to give him some iota of security without stepping on his independence. Oh yeah, and I'm also putting the magazine to bed.

Edmund: Got it.

Brooke: No. You don't got it. You don't give a damn.

Edmund: I care about you a lot Brooke.

Brooke: No. You care about that I'm here to comfort you Edmund. That I'm here to tell you, you know, that Maria still loves you. That you'll get your soulmate back. And that your idyllic marriage will get back to what it should've been before, of course, David Hayward and I messed it up!

Edmund: Okay. I leaned on you way too hard.

Brooke: You used to be a passionate man. You used to care about a million things-people, places, friends. And now the only thing you care about is Maria. You know what? I'm done. I'm done being a nursemaid to your obssession about Maria!

Woo Hoo! Go Brooke! Go Brooke! Go Brooke!
